SEJARAH : BOLA SEPAK MULA DIMANA?

Menurut Bill Muray, pakar sejarah sepak bola, dalam bukunya The World Game: A History of Soccer, sepak bola sudah dimainkan sejak awal Masehi.

Weird World Sport

"I concussed myself pretty good, I have a throbbing headache, I hurt my knee and I've got a lot of neck pain. But I'm fine. I'm just missing 20 minutes of my life, and I probably don't want to remember it anyway," admitted Warren Shouldice after this spectacularly bad example of aerial skiing.
Bee keepers take centre stage at the Madrid Open tennis tournament to control a nasty swarm during a match between Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine and Sorana Cirstea of Romania.

There was only ever going to be one winner in this aerial clash when Austrian pilot Hannes Arch collided with a bird.

Sport for The "Well - to- do" People

The origins of golf can be a little murky as some researchers claim they have discovered references to a form of golf from Egyptian hieroglyphics, while in China, Chui Wan ("chui" = striking and "wan" = small ball) a game of driving a ball with a stick into holes in the ground, was first mentioned in records from the 11th century.

The Dutch game also seemed to have an early version played with a stick and leather ball, while the Scottish game of 'goulf' was mentioned in two ancient laws prohibiting its play.

These games in their various forms are best considered to be the ancestors of golf, while the modern game as played today originated in Scotland in the 12th century, with shepherds knocking stones into rabbit holes, right upon the land where the famous St Andrews Golf Club is situated today.

The earliest, permanent, golf course originated there, along with the 1st written rules of the game, and the 18-hole circuit.
Competitions were arranged between different Scottish cities, and over time, the game spread to England and on to the rest of the world.

In 2005, Golf Digest calculated that the countries with most golf courses per capita, were: Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Canada, Wales, United States, Sweden, and England.

Badminton - The Fastest Racquet Sport In The World

Badminton claims to be the second most-popular participation sport in the world. Only football beats it.

It's officially the fastest racquet sport in the world. The shuttle is smashed around the court at speeds of up to 200 mph - the same speed as Eurostar!

Its Olympic debut was in 1992 in Barcelona. Since 1992 Asian players have won 42 of the 46 Olympic medals.1.1bn people watched the first Olympic badminton tournament on TV.

Simon Archer and Jo Goode won Britain's first Olympic medal in Sydney 2000 - a bronze in the mixed doubles. Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson went one better in Athens winning a silver in the same event.
In Malaysia and Indonesia crowds of up to 15,000 people regularly fill the stands to cheer on their heroes. The International Badminton Federation was established in 1934 and now has 148 member countries including England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Chinese originally played a version of badminton called Ti Zian Ji. They didn't use racquets though, they used their feet.

The origin of the shuttlecock is a bit hazy. One theory is that writing feathers were stuck in corks when they weren't used. During quiet moments the 'pen' store would be thrown, or whacked, around.

Olympic shuttles are made of 16 bird feathers, string and very strong glue. The Kansas City Museum is home to the world's largest shuttlecock - 48 times bigger than normal. While most players choose synthetic strings, some still use gut made from the dried stomach lining of animals such as cows or cats.
